| Here is a software program that's a must for
anyone involved with Shotokan Karate. Use this program to test your knowledge of Kumite,
Dojo Kun, Syllabus, Kata and Karate terms based upon your grade (10th Kyu - 1st Kyu). The
intention of the CFTS Learning Assistant is to aid students in memorization and response
times while out of the Dojo. All of the information gathered for the contents of this
program is from the CFTS handbook (the famous blue book).
Downloading the CFTS
Learning Assistant
To use this software program, you will need to download it to your own computer first. To
download this software program to your computer, click on the link below.Remember to read
the instructions that you'll find in the read.me file. This file is less than 640kb so it
won't take long to download.
Installing the CFTS
Learning Assistant
The CFTS Learning Assistant is 'wrapped' within a zip file. "Zipping" a file
compresses it to make it smaller and therefore quicker to download to your computer.
However, when you have downloaded the file to your computer, you will need to 'unzip' it
by running the program. This is a simple process that consists of the following steps:
- Download the 'zipped' CFTS Learning
Assistant file
- Run the program file by double
clicking on it. There are four files enclosed with the program. These will 'unzip' and be
placed into your C:\CFTS directory.
- If you go to your C:\CFTS
directory, you will see these four files.
.
cfts.exe
dojokun.wav
read.me
vb40032.dll
.
- Move the file called VB40032.DLL
to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
- You can now start the CFTS Learning
Assistant by running C:\CFTS\CFTS.EXE
Feedback
This program is still in Beta. This means that it is still being tested. It would be great
if you could test it and pass any feedback to the author so that issues and bugs can be
fixed before the full product is released. All software goes through a beta process when
users try it to find bugs. Therefore, if you find any bugs, don't think it is a bad
reflection on the software, it's not. The more bugs you find the better. So please report
all bugs that you find by emailing Mathew J.
Heath Van Horn as soon as possible.
